cerecdoctors.com Scientific Symposium - Speaker Highlight: Dr. Stanley Malamed

There is one thing I can say I use everyday in my office - local anesthetic. We all want our patients to be comfortable when we perform treatments. It's probably the number one thing patients are concerned about when we recommend treatment. We are fortunate to have one of the world's foremost expert in the field of local anethesia, Dr. Stanley Malamed, to speak at this year's Symposium. The title of his presentation is Effective Use of Local Anesthesia in a CEREC Appointment.

Dr. Malamed is a dentist anesthesiologist, graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry, and completed a residency in anesthesiology at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in New York before serving for two years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. In 1973, he joined the faculty of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry (now the Ostrow School of Dentistry of U.S.C), in Los Angeles, where he is emeritus professor of dentistry. He is a diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, a recipient of the Heidebrink Award from the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the Horace Wells Award from the International Federation of Dental Anesthesia Societies (IFDAS). He has authored more than 150 scientific papers and 17 chapters in various medical and dental journals and textbooks in the areas of physical evaluation, emergency medicine, local anesthesia, sedation and general anesthesia.

Additionally, Dr. Malamed is the author of three widely used textbooks: Handbook of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office; Handbook of Local Anesthesia; and Sedation - A Guide to Patient Management and two interactive DVDs: Emergency Medicine and Malamed’s Local Anesthetic Technique.
