One of the neat features with the Omnicam that has been around since the camera was introduced almost a year ago last August is the ability to cut out portions of the model and help speed up imaging. For example, a user can take a scan with the Omnicam while the patient is getting numb. Then after they prep the tooth (or teeth) they simply use the cut tool to remove a portion of the model and reimage only that portion.
What is the advantage? Essentially speed. You can do the majority of the imaging during your downtime which means that the only part that you really have to image once the clinical procedure is complete is the preparation. In the example below, we have a scan of some abutments on a patient. Essentially we decided that we wanted to use the new scan bodies and scan the patient for chair side abutments and make a crown with the Ivoclar Meso Block. Instead of re-imaging the entire upper scan, we simply just cut out the portion that is no longer relevant and then just rescan the new abutments. As I mentioned, this has been a part of the CEREC Omnicam workflow ever since its introduction. If you are using the Bluecam, this is also possible by just copying over some images but with the Omnicam, its a breeze.
