Another VITA Triluxe Case-Love Feldspathic Porcelain Veneers

I just finished this case today.  I know I posted about Feldspathic porcelain blocs but I just love the material.  Here is a veneer that I did on #10.  I used VITA Triluxe 1M2 and stained and glazed with Empress stain and glaze and fired on P4.   Total etch, Adhese Universal bond and Variolink Esthetic Neutral.

Awesome case!  Yes it is a great material to work with.

Mad skillz, Daniel! Looks great!!

Hi Daniel

Awesome result.

I would like to attempt some cases like this with the empress stains.

Can you please let me know what to start with as far inventory goes(i.e.what stains and glaze )

thanks in advance

Thanks Gautam!

I used Empress Stains because I think it is a little less technique sensitive than GC Lustre Paste and I don't have the fancy VITA stain kit that Dr Aadland has.

For a basic inventory of Empress Stains and Glazes, I would get the the following: Universal Shade Incisal 1, Universal Shade A2/A3/A3.5 (this is one stain), Mahogany (I use for occlusal stains or to recreate an intense craze line for those ugly teeth), and white.  I find a lot of teeth have white in them and you can use white to accentuate translucency and make it more intense.  You can create slight decalcifications or faint botches to mimick natural teeth.  That is a good start.

For this case, I found the 1M2 block to be a little bright so I toned it down slightly with the A2/A3/A3.5 stain and used a little white on the incisal to recreate some very subtle craze lines to make the tooth look more lifelike.  As a summary of how I do this, I lightly polish the veneer, paint on a thin layer of glaze over the whole veneer.  I mix the stains with an equal part of glaze and work the color in.  A little color goes a long way and after some practice, you will really start to see how different colors impact the restoration.  If you don't like it, remove it and start over.  It may take a little longer, but when I do these esthetic cases, I simply set the expectations up front that it may take a little longer to "colorize" the tooth in order to make it look the way we both desire.

Awesome case Dan, now we get to wait for a comparable case from kris

Me competitive? Nah

Looks awesome!

Outstanding, Dan! Looks awesome.

Absolutely gorgeous! Great work.

really nice!  motivates me to be better :)

Hi Daniel

Thank you for your detailed response.

I am going to order these straightaway and try this on the next possible case.

I will also post my results here for feedback.

Thanks

Gautam

Good for you Gautam. Let me know if I can help you. Food for thought before your case. I take preop photos before each case and have my plan before I prep. So if you want input, I would take some pics and also take a pic with a shade guide in place.

Fantastic work

Could you include a picture of the unstained restauration in future cases to highlight the staining effect! That would be great... Thanks!

Awesome Dan....really nice work.

Will do Gregor...I am mad that I didn't get it...no good excuses other than this patient was a complete pain and complaining about all the pics...at least she was happy when she left...This was definitely a case where staining and glazing made a dramatic difference.  Upon tryin the veneer was a little bright at the gingival half so I added some of the A shade of the Empress stains and I liked the translucency so I simply added some white to match the surrounding teeth.

Beautiful!

Dan,

Beautiful result. I really like the triluxe too. It's tough when the patient complains about pics, and my retractors look like they might be melting a bit in the autoclave. I think I'll order metal ones.

Looks fantastic!!
